Ladies

League play with a full schedule

Ladies’ Twilight League

The 2010 golf season is just around the corner!! I would like to invite all female golf members to join the 9-hole Ladies Twilight League. This year is the sixth anniversary of the Twilight League, and each year it expands and welcomes new members.

Last year, the League had 50 members and many subs! We enjoyed numerous events, including the Dinner at Tiffany’s Closing Dinner, the Ryder Cup Tournament, Mardi Gras Night, the Captain and Crew Tournament, the Member- Member/Member-Guest, ‘Tini Night, and Margarita Night. This year we hope to have even more ladies join the League either as regular members or substitutes.

  • The League is open to golfers of all levels, from experienced players to beginners.
  • The League is held on Wednesday evenings starting on May 19, 2010 with a Fun Night.
  • Regular league nights have a 5:30 p.m. shotgun start and Fun Nights have a 6:00 p.m. starting time.
  • Participants will play every week with a partner. If you already have a partner, please list her name on the Registration Form. If you do not have a partner, we will match you with another golfer with a similar handicap.
  • This fun, relaxed league is a great opportunity to meet other members, make new friends, and enjoy the beautiful golf course at Lake Shore.

Registration & Dues

The League dues are $50 (checks only) and are due along with the linked Registration Form (click here) by May 2nd. Because of scheduling issues, we cannot accept applications for regular League members after that date. If you cannot commit to a league every week but would still like to play occasionally, please indicate “sub” on the Registration Form and send no money. League members are always looking for subs, and you are likely to be contacted on a regular basis.

Orientation

On Wednesday, May 5th, at 6:30 p.m., the Ladies 9- and 18-hole leagues will hold an Orientation, Rules and Etiquette clinic. Nick Serafino will review commonly misunderstood rules and provide us with some time management techniques to use on the course. This clinic is mandatory for new League members.

On Wednesday, May 12th, at 6:00 pm., the Ladies Golf Association will have its Opening Dinner. Please be sure to call the Club House and make your reservation by Sunday, May 9th.

Additional Information

Season Play

Wednesday nights, May 19 – September 8 (including Fun Nights and League Tournaments)

Dues

$50.00 due by May 2nd (Dues must be submitted at the time of registration; checks only, no cash) Carts are extra and optional: $7 a cart (per person) or $3 a pull cart and are charged to your account

Additional Fees

Throughout the course of the year, additional fees will be charged for tournaments, such as the Memorial Tournament, the Member-Member/Member-Guest Tournament, and the Ryder Cup Tournament. These tournaments are optional events. The estimated cost for each of these tournaments is approximately $10.00- $45.00 per person (excluding food and beverage costs).

The cost of cookouts and dinners are not included in your league dues. If you respond that you are attending the event, such expenses will be billed to your house account according to Lake Shore dining rules.

The League may order merchandise from the Pro Shop with the League’s logo on it. These items are not included in the League’s dues and are optional.

Tee Times

On a regular League night, we will all tee off at 5:30 pm. Please be ready for play by 5:15 p.m. On a “Fun Night”, we will tee off once the course is opened, at approximately 6:00 pm. Due to darkness issues, we will have a shotgun start at 5:00 pm on the last 3 weeks of the season. If you know you are going to be late, or if you have a sub, please call your partner and the Pro Shop in advance to inform them about the sub so that the correct score card can be generated.

Scoring

Score cards will be on the carts each week. A total of 10 points is possible per team per week, as follows:

  • 1 point for each hole won
  • ½ point for each hole tied
  • 1 point for the winning team

Sign, date, and write your member number on each score card. Turn in your scorecard after play to Fran Smith, the League’s scorer. The League’s scorer will consult with the Pro Shop regarding scoring issues and the decision of the League’s scorer is final. The rules for special games will be determined prior to the match and all decisions regarding the allocation of points in the event of a discrepancy will be determined by the League’s scorer.

Do not post your own score. The Pro Shop will do it for you.

The highest score on a hole is 10, please pick up your ball after that. We will play “ready golf”, meaning whoever is ready can go.

Rain Outs

In case of inclement weather, we will send an email to the League by 4:00 p.m., or you can call the Pro Shop. If the League has not been called off, your team must participate or it will be considered a forfeit. If the League has been called off, there will be no makeup, however, the League members may still meet for dinner and cocktails in the Clubhouse at 6:00 pm. In case of steady rain during play, a minimum of 5 holes must be completed by all League participants in order for the night to count. In case of lightening and the horn blows, play has been suspended.

Subs

If you cannot make a League night, you must find your own sub . You can either refer to the sub list or call another golf member. If you cannot find a sub, your partner will play the opponents and you can take a pull, if it is available. If neither partner can find a sub, you shall forfeit and the opposing team shall receive six points. The opposing team has the ability to “play the card” to receive more than six points. To play the card, you receive a ½ point if you tie the par with the card’s handicap, and receive 1 point if you beat the par with the card’s handicap. Maximum points possible when “playing the card” is 10 – up to 9 for play + 1 for showing up. Minimum points earned is 6. THE TEAM MAY NOT OBTAIN TWO SUBSTITUTES FOR THE SAME EVENING, AT LEAST ONE MEMBER OF THE TEAM MUST PARTICIPATE IN ORDER TO AVOID A FORFEIT.

Pull

Each player is allowed ONE pull per season – eligible only after both sides have been played. A “pull” is defined as follows: if you cannot find a sub, the League’s scorer will pull one of your prior scorecards for the same course side, at random, and match it against your opponent for that night. After your one pull is used up you will not receive any points if your forfeit. Make-up games are not allowed. BOTH PLAYERS ON THE SAME TEAM MAY NOT TAKE A PULL ON THE SAME NIGHT. If both players are unable to play, the team must forfeit that match.

Handicaps

The highest possible handicap is 20. Handicaps change every week, determined by your scores.

Closing Dinner

The Closing Dinner for the 9- and 18-hole ladies leagues will be held on Wednesday, September 22nd. All prizes will be awarded at this event.
